In 2005, Jim and Loretta Moshier relocated and continued working together as they always had. About a decade later, Loretta was injured in a car accident while working as a bus aide for disabled children. Unable to return to her job, she turned to a box of Mexican fire opals she'd found at a yard sale. What began as a hobby—polishing rocks—quickly grew into a business. The couple started making jewelry in their garage and, inspired by a floating white feather Loretta saw one day, they named their venture White Feather. In 2015, they opened a shop on Main Street in Santaquin, later moving to a new location but staying true to their passion. Now 78, Jim has “retired” three times but still makes custom jewelry, while Loretta says, “It’s not a job; it’s our hobby… it keeps us alive.”
